Study Skills
and Learning Tactics
A detailed examination of the various strategies that a student
uses for learning may reveal that an important part of the
reason for academic difficulties or failure to make expected
progress is that he / she have inefficient study skills or
learning tactics. Sometimes previous learning has not been
fully understood and that has affected the ability to understand
subsequent tasks, or inaccurate learning methods have been
picked up. Most of us have some poor habits in our lives after
all! An assessment of the study skills / learning tactics
used can identify what further skills I need to teach the
person concerned. These attributes are also related to thinking
skills.
